The Celtics All-Stars Enjoying Themselves This Weekend

The Celtics All-Stars Enjoying Themselves This Weekend

The Celtics all-stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown took a break from regular season stress of seedings, losses, and wins to just hoop.

Celtics All-Stars Join The 3 Point Contest

In Atlanta, the two stars participated in the 3 point contest. And while they are good to great in-game shooters, they should leave the contests to the Steph Curry’s of the world. Tatum knocked down a few shots in the first round and ended dropping 25 total points. Brown knocked down 17 points and also didn’t advance. However, it wasn’t impressive enough to enter the final round. Ultimately and unsurprisingly, Steph Curry won the contest on his last shot to defeat Jazz point guard Mike Conley.

Nonetheless, the two appeared to enjoy themselves out there. Brown even made a dud when he knocked over one of the racks in the middle of the court during a shot. Seeing that both players use their legs and need a rhythm to shoot, no wonder they didn’t fair too well.

All-Star Game

Team LeBron took the comfortable win over Team Durant in a 170-150 victory. Jaylen Brown clocked in with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Being that the star James was taking it easy, it was time for the young guys to step up. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished the game as the MVP with 35 points. The game ultimately had several alley-oops, dunks, threes, and of course… a lack of defense. Jayson Tatum finished with 21 points and 7 assists with his highlights worth sharing. However, for Boston fans, their moment came before halftime.

With 9:45 left to go in the 2nd quarter, Brown for team LeBron had the ball with Tatum guarding him. Other players cleared out as Tatum slaps the floor in preparation to play 1 on 1 defense. Brown makes a couple of moves before attacking the hole. In an attempt to finish a blow by a layup with the right hand, Brown misses it. It was a moment that fans tweeted about.

2nd Half Of Season

Nonetheless, this all-star break was much needed for multiple reasons. The 2 stars Tatum and Brown got their ‘rest’ and some fun in. Without the worry of playoffs and COVID, players were able to just relax, laugh, and hang around other stars in the league. Guys such as Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid didn’t play due to COVID protocols. Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis didn’t play for injury reasons.

The Celtics sit in the middle of the eastern conference in what many write off as ‘underwhelming’. For this second half of the season to be successful they’ll need their young stars to be at 100%. Hopefully, Boston uses this break to rest, clear their mind, then get ready to finish the season strong. Because if they don’t, they can find themselves facing a tough opponent in the first round. And if that happens, we may not see the same core guys next season. As for now, hats off to the Celtics all-stars, as it was Brown’s 1st appearance and Tatum’s 2nd.
