Celtics 2020-2021 Season Preview

Expectations for the Boston Celtics 2020-21 season:

The Boston Celtics are heading into the 2020-2021 season with a lot of high expectations. Boston recently ended last season with an Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Miami Heat. Celtics are looking to bounce back this upcoming season with some new faces to the organization. Tristian Thompson was signed by the team with the deal being 2-year 19 million. Jeff Teague was another veteran picked up by the Celtics agreeing on a 1-year deal. Boston is ready to make a serious run at a title this season with the talented roster that they have.

Boston Celtics 2020 1st round draft picks:

Boston Celtics rookies Aaron Nesmith and Payton Pritchard.

This recent NBA draft did not happen in June, it occurred in November virtually. The Celtics drafted Aaron Nesmith with the 14th overall pick from Purdue University. Aaron can play both the small forward position and shooting guard. However, Nesmith can shoot the basketball well and can contribute to the Celtics that like to share the basketball. Next Boston drafted Payton Pritchard with the 26th overall pick in the first round. Pritchard is what Boston needs coming off the bench that can catch fire and shoot and help the team out. He’s like the Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro, now Boston has their own player with Payton. You should see both players contribute early and throughout the season for coach Brad Stevens.

Celtics Kemba Walker out to start the season:

Kemba Walker will be out to start the 2020-21 season due to the reoccurring knee injuries that have dated back to last season. This is a tough blow to the Celtics to be without one of the team’s top players but other players will have to contribute in his absence. Keep eye on veterans Jeff Teague and Marcus Smart filling in and rookie Payton Pritchard sharing time at the point

Season Outlook:

Heading into the 2020-21 season, the Boston Celtics have a great chance to get one of the top 4 seeds in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn Nets are healthier this year with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant coming back with new coach Steve Nash. Toronto Raptors are going to be in the mix yet again. Miami Heat has the same core of the team that lead them to the finals. Milwaukee Bucks once again will be having a good squad leading them back to the playoffs and a run at the #1 seed in the East. The Celtics have a lot of competition this season. Boston can keep up with all the teams that I had mentioned as long everyone plays together and contributes well.
