Boston Bruins 2020-21 Career Milestones

Boston Bruins 2020-21 Career Milestones

While the 2020-21 NHL season is still in the planning stage we will see the season in some form. Not knowing when the season is starting or how long it will be could affect some of these potential achievements. With aging veterans, players in their primes, and young raising stars many players are going to hit career milestones. Some putting their names among the all-time greats while others are just getting started. Let’s take a look at who might be adding some pucks to the trophy case.

Forwards Career Milestones

Patrice Bergeron

The first forward who is just shy of some big career milestones is Patrice Bergeron. For his career, Bergeron has played in 1089 games with a stat line of 352-517-869. That means Bergeron is just eleven games shy of hitting 1100 games played. Bergeron would become just the third Bruins player to play 1100 games in Boston. Bergeron is also just 31 points away from scoring his 900th point. Patrice is just 19 points behind Bobby Orr for 5th all-time in Bruins scoring and 29 points behind Rick Middleton for 4th. Finally, if Bergeron can finish the year with 37 assists he will pass Phil Esposito for 4th all-time in Bruins history for assists.

David Krejci

For his career, Krejci has played in 911 games with a stat line of 207-479-686. Krejci is just 14 points shy of 700 and just 21 assists from 500. In Bruins’ history, Krejci is just 17 assists behind Rick Middleton for 7th all time. A tougher but still possible achievement would be scoring 37 assists trying him with Wayne Cashman for 6th all-time. With 30 assists in just 61 games last season, look for Krejci to climb in the Bruins all-time best passer ranks.

Brad Marchand

In his Bruins career, Marchand had played in 751 games with a stat line of 290-356-646. Marchand is just 49 games away from playing in 800 career NHL games. For points, Marchand is 10 goals short of 300, 44 assists away from 400, and 54 points away from 700. Marchand has assisted on over 50 goals each of the last three years so don’t be surprised if he hits all three milestones. Brad will look to pass Ken Hodge twice on Bruins all-time leaderboards. Marchand is only 28 points behind Hodge for 9th all-time and 29 assists behind Hodge for 10th all-time. The 9th all-time assist spot is also within reach as Marchand trails Terry O’Reilly by 46.

David Pastrnak

While Pasta isn’t shooting up the career all-time lists yet he is fast approaching some impressive milestones. For his career Pasta has played 390 games scoring 180 goals 199 assists and 379 points. Those numbers leave him 10 games short of 400 twenty goals short of 200 and just one assist away from 200 as well. Pastrnak is also just 21 points shy of 400 career points and is very likely to become a point per game player this year for his career.

Defensemen Career Milestones

Zdeno Chara

Yes, Chara is still unsigned but we are assuming he finishes his career in Boston. For his career, Chara has played 1553 games with a stat line of 205-451-656. Just in Boston Zdeno has played 1023 games with 148 goals 333 assists and 481 points. Chara is just 47 games away from 1600 and just 59 games behind Ray Bourque for 12th all time. If Chara can score 19 points this year he will hit 500 career points in Boston. Zdeno is also just 29 games behind Don Sweeney for 4th all-time in Boston. Chara could also move up the career milestone list with some undisciplined play next season. 32 penalty minutes would move Chara into 5th all-time and 35 penalty minutes moves him into 4th. The names he would he passing just Ray Bourque and Eddie Shore.

Charlie McAvoy

It’s still early in McAvoy’s career but he is fast approaching some impressive career milestones. In his 184 games, Charlie has scored 19 goals 73 assists, and 92 points. That leaves Charlie just 16 games shy of 200, 27 assists from 100, and just 8 points shy of hitting 100. With a likely increase to his offensive responsibilities look for some career highs from McAvoy this year.

Goalies Career Milestones

Tuukka Rask/Jaroslav Halak

For his career, Rask has played in 536 games with a record of 291-158-64 with 50 shutouts. Tuukka sits just 9 wins short of 300 and needs 19 wins to move into 31st all-time and 28 wins for 30th. Those two spots are currently held by Kari Lehtonen and Miikka Kiprusoff. For his career, Jaroslav Halak has played in 520 games with a record of 272-167-58 with 50 shutouts. Halak is also closing in on an all-time great just 12 wins behind Tiny Thompson for 44th all-time.

Honorable Mentions

First up Charlie Coyle who is 30 games from 600. Coyle also needs just 15 points to hit 300 and 24 assists to hit 200. Ondrej Kase is just 3 points shy of scoring 100. Nick Ritchie is 6 games away from playing in 300 NHL games. Matt Grzelcyk is 3 games away from 200 games played. Finally, Brandon Carlo is just 3 games away from playing in his 300th game. With so many memorable moments to come next season, whenever it might be, let’s all look forward to the 2021 season. Until then stay safe out there and LET’S GO BRUINS!!
