The Patriots are very entertaining to watch so far. Quarterback Cam Newton has taken a leadership approach in his first year with the team. The two Patriots wins so far this season have been good ones. Also, it's cool to see how this offense comes together with Newton. The running game was solid in Sunday's win over the Raiders. Now, they have a tough game this Sunday against the Chiefs. The way Patrick Mahomes is throwing the ball, the Patriots defense will have to be more prepared than they were in Seattle.
Patriots Head To Kansas City Sunday
The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs are coming off a short week. However, they are preparing for the Patriots without Tom Brady. No doubt Mahomes will throw the ball all over and make plays. However, expect Cam to do that also. You'll probably see the running game dominate again, and see Newton spread the ball around. On the defensive side the Patriots, really need to get to Mahomes and make him throw early. If you give him too much time he'll find someone open. Chase Winovich has been solid early on and so has Dietrich Wise. Stephon Gilmore has struggled so far hopefully he has a good game Sunday.
Andy Reid is a good coach and does well in preparing for New England. Those games are always close. I'm sure Sunday's game will be close also. The secondary needs to be better for the Patriots if they want to win Sunday. They can't give up five touchdowns to Mahomes as they did with Russell Wilson. Mahomes throws it deep and guys jump to catch it no matter how good they're covered. That Patriots defense needs to be on its toes Sunday afternoon.
It will probably come down to who has the ball last. Also, who makes the least amount of mistakes. It will be telling for the Patriots to beat the Chiefs and hand them their first loss. They have the chance to finish September 3-1, and start October home against Denver.
