Lee Nguyen to Re-Join Revs After Two Years

Lee Nguyen to Re-Join Revs After Two Years

34-year-old Lee Nguyen will be heading back to Foxboro, joining a few old friends. The trade was completed on Tuesday, the news was broken by Andrew Mahoney of the Boston Globe. Bruce Arena had told the media that "We're not actively looking for players at this point." It seems that Arena may have been brought a deal by Inter Miami that was too sweet not to take. The deal is being reported that the Revs parted with a fourth-round draft pick and 50,000 dollars of allocation money.

The Attacking Mid The Revs Are Missing

Lee was a great attacking midfielder for New England. He ended his time with the Revolution with 51 goals and 49 assists over six years. The Revs will hope that he can recapture his glory years with the team. Nguyen had a huge part to play in the 2014 MLS Cup run. He has kept up his assist tally with Inter Miami. In 2018, when he arrived from the Revs, he managed three goals and five assists in 25 starts. Last year, he was unable to score any goals but provided four assists in 23 games. He only started eleven games last year. During Lee's time with Inter Miami, he enjoyed hoisting the Supporter's Shield in 2019.

Lee Nguyen will be re-joining a few old teammates. Nguyen will look forward to connecting with Kelyn Rowe, Teal Bunbury, Diego Fagundez, and Scott Caldwell in the middle of the field. He also will enjoy seeing Brad Knighton and Andrew Farrell sitting behind him. I think the core of the team that remains will help him feel comfortable again. The 2017 season was the last time he played with many of them. The team will hope that he can replace an injured Carles Gil for the time being while Gil recovers.
