Quarterback Cam Newton has high praise from coach Bill Belichick. He's the first one in and last one out of the building daily. His motivation is key to having some positive influence in the locker room. Belichick Likes Newton's work ethic trying to get better each day. His relationship with his teammates is growing too and seems to get along with everyone. It's been an adjustment for everyone during these times. However, it seems Newton is adjusting well to his new team.
According to Belichick, nobody works harder than Cam does. That's saying something after the last few years of an uninterested Tom Brady. Brady had become distant and tired of the way Belichick did things. For Newton, this year is all about redeeming himself so he can get his contract from a team next season. Newton should be motivated and willing to be the best he can be. He's got a lot to prove coming back from an injury. He's a former MVP and wants to be that player again.
Cam Newton Already Is Off To A Great Start, As Training Camp Ends
There is uncertainty with how Newton will mesh with the Patriots offense. Training camp this year was limited to the media, they saw some things but with no preseason it doesn't help. For sure Newton should be the starter week one against the Dolphins. Stidham isn't ready and Hoyer is a career backup. Newton came to New England to start not to hold a clipboard. He worked hard in the off-season and in the workouts he posted on social media. Belichick's high praise is a good sign for the former MVP.
As the Patriots transition from training camp to preparing for Miami, we're going to see Newton probably get most of the reps. Right now the only two locks at the receiver position are Edelman and N'Keal Harry. Newton's work ethic has shown early he wants to be here and has something to prove
