The Stidhams Are Here To Stay

New England fans are still trying to wrap their heads around the fact that Tom Brady is now a Buccaneer. The Patriot players however are confident in Jarett Stidham, specifically the McCourty twins. Devin had some high praise for Stidham on his podcast, “Double Coverage,” which could be genuine or more tire pumping.

The McCourty’s spoke very highly of Jarrett, Devin spoke about practice last year and how the Auburn product stood out.

“To me, the best thing for Stidham was that he had to go against our defense every week,” said Devin. “There were weeks where he was just on point. And those were some of our best weeks as a defense, mainly because he ate us up in practice leading up to the game, and I think put more pressure on us. So, I really admire just how hard he works.”

Devin is certainly one of my favorite players and the leader on defense. But I still can’t help but wonder if he’s exaggerating just a bit.

Stidham did look good during the preseason, showing pocket presence, a great arm and the ability to move safeties with his eyes to make big throws. I think the Patriots are making the right decision to stick with Jarrett, and Devin McCourty thinks the Stidhams are going to be in New England for a long time.

The fact the young QB has the confidence from his teammates and coaches from the hard work and maturity he’s shown is a great sign for Patriots fans. ‘Stids’, asBill Belichick calls him, seems to be part of the family already, as Steve Belichick’s wife is close friends with Jarrett’s wife.

The Stidham era is here and Devin could be right about the QBs family being here for a long time.
