Pastrnak Named Atlantic All Star Captain

Pastrnak Named Atlantic All Star Captain

Bruins forward David Pastrnak has been named team captain for the Atlantic division in the NHL All Star game. Pastrnak received the most votes in the Atlantic division to claim the title as captain, per NHL All Star game rules. This selection is just thing to add to Pastrnak’s best year so far in his career.

What got us here?

Pastrnak will be team captain for the first time in is career. This will be Pastrnak’s second consecutive All Star selection, and the second of his career. David Pastrnak still leads the league in goals with 28, with the next closest goal scorer being Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres with 24. Eichel is sure to join Pastrnak on the Atlantic division team once the voting ends for the rest of the All Star rosters. Pastrnak is also sixth in the league in points, first in the league in powerplay goals, tied for the league lead in game winning goals, and tied for fifth in the league in points per game with teammate Brad Marchand. David Pastrnak is also one of three players in the NHL with a hat trick in two games this year. The other two players are Connor McDavid, and former Bruin Noel Acciari.

Pastrnak trails two other All Star game captains in points; Connor McDavid, and Nathan MacKinnon. The fourth and final All Star game team captain is Alex Ovechkin, who is 22nd in the league in points and fourth in the league in goals. Ovechkin’s Capitals are first in the league point race.

Will any other Bruins make it?

Brad Marchand has the best chance to make it if were going by stats. He is tied for fourth in the league in points with teammate and All Star team captain David Pastrnak. He is 13th in the league in goals. Patrice Bergeron is always a solid pick for the All Star game, as he is very well liked around the league by players and fans. Brad Marchand? Not so much. It’ll be interesting to see if that plays a major factor in the voting. Both Bruins goalies have a fairly decent chance at making it. Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak are first and second in the division in goals allowed average (GAA).

What is your dream line?

The new All Star game format is so much better than the old one. The biggest change is the fact that games are played like NHL overtime; Three vs three. This leads to a whole new strategy, much more excitement, and absolute dream scenarios. Three of your favorite, or three of the best players in the NHL racing up ice. My dream All Star line would have to be David Pastrnak, Jack Eichel, and John Tavares. What is your dream line?
