Tom Brady Says He Can Play at 47 years old

Tom Brady has been fighting Father Time for years now, it’s been incredible to watch him get better as he ages. Tom has maintained that he’s playing until he’s 45 barring any catastrophes, and now he’s looking to go even longer.

“I think I can play at 47 years old”

Alex Guerrero (Brady’s personal trainer) went on WEEI today and dropped some news about Tom Brady’s new goal. 45 years old is the old number, now Guerrero said Tom has been telling him he’d like to play until he’s 46 or 47.

“It all comes to commitment, really.” Guerrero said. “No one thought you could play at the elite level in your late 30’s, early 40’s. That is something we always felt like we could do. I have really wanted to be there to help him (Brady) accomplish that goal. I certainly believe that 45 is a very realistic goal. We talk about it all the time. Every year Tom just adds another year.” He goes in and he’s like, ‘Guys, I still feel so good. I think I’m going to go til 45.’ But now Brady has recently been telling Guerrero and others “ I think I can go like 46 or 47.”

Brady isn’t done playing

Now this is where things get dicey, I believe the Patriots and Brady will figure out a contract before the end of this season. There’s one problem though, if Belichick was this hesitant to give Brady an extension this year, it’s hard to imagine him signing off on a 46-47 year old QB.

The fact remains that Bill and Tom have been together for so long that each know they need one another. Despite the news you may hear about them hating each other, they don’t, and these guys just want to win.

Tom Brady can play as long as he wants in my opinion, if he’s healthy he will always be a top QB in this league. Alex Guerrero has been with Tom for 16 years, and Brady credits most of his longevity to him. There were times it seemed like it was Bill vs Tom and Alex but things seemed to have cooled off. Guerrero says that Bill gives him high fives in the hallway now, even receives treatment from time to time. Bill knows the benefits Guerrero brings to the team going back 16 years now, and the proof is in Tom Brady.

Can Tom Keep this up?

Absolutely. Tom Brady if healthy can continue his elite play, look what he’s done this year with all the injuries around him. Many national media members don’t look at Brady’s surroundings and just say he’s declining. They aren’t seeing the whole picture, so when Brady’s throwing touchdowns to one of Ben Watson’s kids in a few years don’t be surprised.

The Patriots are a very smart organization, and with Kraft, Belichick and Tom Brady it’s hard to imagine anything but a resolution to Brady’s contract. I believe he will be here next year and maybe 2021, but if push comes to shove and Bill is ready to move on from the legend then he should be ready to face him, because Tom isn’t retiring.

I truly believe that Bill and Brady will make this work as long as possible, but in the event Tom leaves in a year or two there would be teams looking for his services. For now let’s enjoy 2019 and appreciate what we are watching because you’ll never see anything like this again.
