Tom Brady did his weekly radio spot on WEEI on Monday, and since it’s Eagles week the questions about Super Bowl 52 started. Brady was asked if he’d gotten over the loss, Brady’s response is what makes him the ultimate competitor.
“You assume I’m over it? Come on now. That’s a lot of mental scar tissue from that year. That was a tough game.” Brady continued saying “In a lot of ways we learned from that year and came back stronger the next year. We won the Super Bowl in ‘18. I think everything is a matter of perspective and when you play in that game and you play great teams, you’re not going to win them all.”
“This is not the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals.” Brady said. “This is all about tough competition against the best teams. They deserved it that year, and now a couple years later we get a chance to play them again…Huge game for us. Big game for them. The better team is going to win.”
Tom Brady is out for revenge, it’s just who he is and what makes him so special. The man who has accomplished everything, as a teammate and personally still has that fire, over a loss two years ago.
The incredible thing about Tom Brady is that he is never satisfied, in SB 52 Brady went 28 for 49 while breaking his own record with 505 passing yards, 3 TD’s, 0 INTs and a 115.4 passer rating.
Now I am not going to go through all the questionable officiating, it won’t change anything, but there were plenty of missed or bad calls. Tom Brady had his greatest SB performance without his Number 1 WR in Edelman. The loss of Brandin Cooks due to a horrible head shot made his job incredibly difficult, yet he still had that amazing stat line.
Brady is the ultimate leader and team player, he’s a man amongst boys and could easily blame that loss on his defense. Bill Belichick’s questionable decision to bench Butler could also be used as an excuse, but this time around the Pats have a defense that won’t give up 40+ points like last time.
But Tom doesn’t make excuses, he gets revenge. The timing for this game couldn’t be better, coming off a beating in Baltimore, Brady and company are ready to get some revenge vs Philly and I’ll take the Patriots by 20.
